Roughly how many sportives would you do in a year?

What's a Sportive? 1-3 4-9 10+ (I'm a sportive fiend!)

How many years have you been doing Sportives?

2017 will hopefully be my first. I just got started last summer really. A few years now. More years than I care to remember.

What price would you expect to pay for a typical sportive?

They should be free Somewhere from 10 - 25 I'm willing to pay 25 - 45 As long as it offers good value I'm happy

What is your preferred number of participants in a sportive

The bigger the better, I'm a social animal I like a decent crowd, but it doesn't matter too much I'm not a fan of huge crowds, keep the bunch tight Any more than 100 is just too much

What is your favourite type of sportive to ride

Lots of climbing (the more hills the better) a bit of hills but make sure there is some descending too, Mixed terrain, I do like to keep it in the big dog. Flat as can be, I'm looking for speed.

How often do you like to stop during a sportive

Stopping is cheating. Maybe the one for a coffee or a leak. I like a few breaks along the way. Sometimes I do a bit of cycling but I'm really a fan of the tea and cakes.

Do you find Sportives Sociable

Yes great fun, always meet interesting people. Sometimes they can be sociable alright I usually focus on the cycling

Have you ever managed to rope newbies into doing a sportive with you? Yes No

How much Training would you normally complete before a sportive

It's all about the miles for me, I'll be training in whatever weather is thrown at me. Always try to make sure I put in a few decent rides in the month or two before and event. I get out when I can. I had bike back when I was a kid, sure I'll get by.

do you travel across Ireland to ride a good sportive

Yes, more than once a month Maybe once or twice a year No, I prefer the ones close to home.

Before you a sportive what is your target for the day?

I just want to finish it Hopefully I might beat my time from last year I have a set time or speed that I want to achieve I'm going to be pushing it, I want to fight to be in the first bunch home.

Where would you usually find out about upcoming sportives

The club Friends or family I see ads and the internet seemsa to follow me. Cycling ireland website Other cycling sites or blogs

Do you follow what is happening on the professional / international scene Is Lance still racing? Very occasionallly, not really my thing Would keep on the eye results, cheer on the Irish lads. I know each rider immediately by the tanlines of his legs,

Male Cyclists Shaving their legs? That is just weird. Each their own, probably not for me. I could be tempted, might get around to it this year I'm stroking my clean-shaven legs as I type

How do you feel the night before a sportive I often cant sleep with the nerves and excitement Quietly looking for ward to it. Woud probably go for a pint or two, sure I just need to finish the thing. Big meal and then in bed by 9.
